Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Shiling on the west bank of Ledong River (Changhua River), 6 km northeast of Dongfang Town, Dongfang County, Guangdong. It was named by the Regional Geological Survey Party of Guangdong Province in 1964.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Gray and dark-gray limestone containing siliceous nodules or banded limestone and dolomitic limestone, 218 m thick.

Lower contact

Unknown: It is in faulted contact with the underlying Qingtianxia Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Ledonghe Fm [not in Carboniferous Lexicon; which has youngest Permian unit on chart of the Echa Fm (but in fault contact)]
